Sri Lankan Spicy
Indian fare is relatively well-known throughout the western world but the same cannot be said for Sri Lankan cuisine. Though the two are similar, Sri Lankan food tends to use a good amount of coconut milk, not unlike Thai food. For those who are seasoned southeast Asian cuisine foodies, you’ll notice that some popular Sri Lankan dishes like kotthru roti (above) are not all too different from those you can find in Singapore or Malaysia. Another defining characteristic is ghost chili which is 400 times hotter than Tabasco sauce.
